The Los Osos Community Services District provides quality water to a population of approximately 7,086 in Los Osos and Baywood Park area of the community.

In May 2022, our water customers will receive the annual consumer confidence report (CCR) by mail. This is a report on the water quality of the District’s water service area. The results are from water tested between January 1st and December 31st of 2021. 

The preparation of CCRs is required by Health & Safety Code §116470 and California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Article 20. 

Look in your mailbox for the CCR before the end of May 2022. If you have questions regarding the CCR, contact Margaret Falkner at 805-528-9376.

One way to conserve water is to monitor your usage and adjust accordingly. Remember that your water meter measures indoor and outdoor water usage. There is a device you can purchase that will help you monitor your water usage. It is the FLUME device and you can get a rebate from the Los Osos Community Services District to help. Remember that California remains in a drought. The San Luis Obispo County area is in a severe drought, as noted on the following drought monitor.

Water rate increase: At the April 7th Board of Director’s meeting, the Board tentatively approved a proposed water rate increase that had been introduced at the March 3rd meeting. The proposed rates were developed by a working group of community members and advisory groups that provide input to the District; the Financial Advisory Committee and Utilities Advisory Committee. LOCSD is proposing to phase in the proposed rate increases over three years to help minimize the annual impact on customers.

With the tentative approval of the rate increase, the Board directed staff to issue the appropriate public notice in accordance with Proposition 218 and set the hearing date for adoption at the June 2, 2022 Board of Director’s meeting.

The Los Osos Community Services District Board of Directors is looking for two qualified individuals to fill vacancies on the  Finance Advisory Committee.

Applications of qualified individuals may be submitted to the Los Osos Community Services District office, 2122 9th Street, Suite 110, Los Osos, California, or mailed to P.O. Box 6064, Los Osos, California 93412.

Applications will be reviewed and a selection made by the appointing Board members, Chuck Cesena and Troy Gatchell. This is a great opportunity to be involved in our community and part of our local government.
